Coin looks pretty shiny and there are no signs of small scratches like I've seen with other cleaned coins. However there is a gash to the left of liberty on the observe (see pic). Theres also one other faint gash in the coin but much lighter and hard to see. Otherwise no scratches so maybe that is just PMD? As you can see on the back great details and still a lot of luster. What would this grade or is it a cleaned coin? Sorry I know my pictures aren't great but it's the best I could do.

Photos aren't the best, but I tend to agree.

That sucks, but thanks for letting me know. Oh well, I didn't pay too much for it but I think I've learned to just go with certified for the silver dollars if I buy any more. Another member had recommended going that route and with all the "cleaned" coins on ebay people sell raw it isn't worth the risk. Thanks again!

As noted above the coin looks polished from your photo. You need to look at the coin under a loupe and if the coin has been polished or cleaned there will be hairline scratches. If you want to see what a cleaned or polished coin looks like under a loupe, clean and polish some 2015 pennies. On many cleaned coins you can not tell the coin has been cleaned from the photo. If you determine your coin has been cleaned, return the coin for a refund.

Photos aren't the best, but given that and the lighting, it has the "look" of being cleaned.

If there is a good coin store/pawn shop near you that has both raw and slabbed dollars for sale, see if you can get to know the main person there who handles coins. He (she?) will probably be happy to show you the difference between original UNC surfaces and cleaned surfaces (the ones in the dollar pick bin are probably *ALL* cleaned, which is why they're in the pick bin). Plus, chances are that the coins in the pick bin have been cleaned in different ways, so you can learn what the different methods do to coins.

But get to know what original surfaces look like and how to view the "cartwheel" luster. Then when you're looking at a mystery coin you can tell right away if it doesn't "look right."

Assuming this is cleaned (probably is), does this make it a cull?

I would not considered your coin as cull as your coin could receive a detail grade, for example: AU Details Polished. There are some dealers who would throw a polished AU common date coin into the cull bin as the coin is not desirable as a collector's coin.

There is one more thing you should know about the coin on the reverse there is a rim ding above the N that could make the coin grade Details Rim Damage. The graders will not typically give a coin details grade for small rim dings, but a gash in the rim will receive a details grade.
Rest in Peace

Definitely a details grade coin. Once you see enough Peace dollars in NGC and PCGS you will get the hang of knowing (MOST of the time) what luster SHOULD look like for an uncleaned example. There is even a chance this was whizzed, rather than just polished.

Well I spent $26 on it. Certainly not the best deal considering it's probably polished but I know I've bought worse in the past. It's probably not worth trying to return it given the cost.

Looks like an AU coin that was dipped and possibly wiped down with a non-abrasive cloth. Would probably grade details but I wouldn't go so far as to call it polished.
