But when it comes to jobs (and special interests) that effect certain members congressional districts (Republicans and Democrats) then those cost savings ideas don't look so good anymore. (They all wanna do military base closures too, unless they are in "my" district!)
The currency suppliers do not want to lose over 50% of their "guvment" business. The printers unions surely don't want to have to print 50% less new money with fewer members doing it.
Throw in the ink manufacturers, contract services and support groups and there are a lot of people supported by printing dollar bills.
Most likely, this new legislation will eventually die a quiet death just like the others have over the years.
