I'm just now getting to understand some of the differences in errors and die,etc-- the forum members are great teachers! At first it was hard to see past that next wheatie date I just had to have! ha This penny I noted has it's rim off centered--does something like that make it worth more?

Thanks!
Gussyboy

That coin is referred to as a MAD coin. (Miss-Align-Die) The reason you find this is that the upper die was not in alignment with the lower die. You usually find this only on the obverse. But if the coin is off center on obverse and reverse it moves into the off center category. But yours is probably just off set a little on the obverse. Very common. If you get a roll of them you will see several examples from that die pair that made your coins setup. This can be corrected by the machine operator, but is still within tolerance, so it no biggie to him. No extra value for this.
