Is this ebay title listing acceptable by ebay rules?

Note the sell does not use MS64, but does call the coin uncirculated in the title listing. This $3000 PL coin can be purchased for under $140, but the seller does not offer refunds.

The coin in the holder also looks circulated.

Please check out the ebay link below.

No, mention of a numeric grade in the title is not permissible by ebay's rules but it's not like they'll do anything about it.

Good question, I was close to starting a thread like this. More and more recently I've seen number grades in listings for ebay non-approved TPG coins. Not sure if it's leaving off the MS, or sometimes there is a space between the MS and the number grade. Either the sellers have found a loophole or ebay is relaxing the listing standards. Even in the seller's description he says MS64PL.....I thought ebay would reject that .

This is an NNC slab. If I correctly understand ebay rules regarding slabbed coins, you cannot include the grade in the title or description unless it has been graded by PCGS, NGC, or ANACS. If that is true, then this is a listing violation. And though he doesn't use "MS" in the title, he *does* use "64PL" which is the slabbed grade.

Besides, this doesn't look MS-64 or prooflike. On top of that, there appears to be damage near the E in "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and to the right of the eagle. I also see fine parallel scratches, though they could be on the plastic and not on the coin.

Normally ebay would be on top of this, and cancel the listing. I agree that leaving MS out of the numerical grade might have let this one slip through their search process.
Rest in Peace

Whatever the seller centsless produces is also accepted by ebay. I believe he calls his basement the home of NNC.

ebay was much better at catching the numerical grade assignments, as well as reading and responding to reports of counterfeits and fakes, when they still had a small staff dedicated to that pursuit.

They no longer do, as has been mentioned on this forum several times.

If you report it, it usually results in it being removed. I've seen a number of those pulled after just a few hours of being reported, so someone at ebay is at least reading the reports.

Technically, you aren't supposed to use ANY form of the numerical grade unless it is one of the four accepted TPG's, but there simply isn't anyone watching for violations.

Not really, not any more. 3-4 years ago that would have been true. Nowadays there's nobody watching the building, and auctions get removed solely because of backchannel connections at ebay to people who care.
