Just got this one. It is a Ban Liang that is a whopping 4mm in diameter. I am also posting it with my largest Ban Liang which is 35mm and 10.9g. (A larger one is coming; it is 38mm in diameter.) Quite the size difference.

These tiny coins were discovered in 2004 in the Gansu Province in China (there was a small hoard of them). They were authenticated by Roger Doo and sold to Bob Reis. I purchased it directly from Bob about a month ago.

Clue #3: I was 99% sure that I found this very rare variety, but now I am 100% sure I didn't.

I wonder how those puny coins were discovered - they could get lost in dirt or mistaken for sand...

And yes, the "jailhouse" cent is a neat error! I want one, too.

4mm? Thats tiny. I dont know if I have any that small (with a visible design). The smallest Ive got with recognisable detail is a 6mm with a fairly nice bust. My barbaric issue collection is quite extensive (they arent worth anything so Ive picked up a lot on the cheap - unfortunately this means that nobody cares to record their findspots, which is infuriating because these issues really really need a good study of their production and distribution).

Heres 20 of my minims on the face of a Morgan dollar.
