Elagabalus - Can Someone Help Me With Attribution, Please?

Topcat7 Pillar of the Community 1121 Posts	Posted 08/01/2015 6:09 pm A while ago I bought this Bronze coin as an Elagabalus with Annona on the reverse. The legend on the Obverse appears to read (in part) . . . ANTON?IN? . . . but my eyes are almost as old as I am and cannot be relied upon every time. Any help is appreciated. AE27 mm, 10.5 gm. I know what you mean about the bust not looking like the Elagabalus we grew up with, and I have spent the last two and a half hours going through the 'Provincial' listings for Marcus Aurelius, Caracalla, Antoninus Pius, Elagabalus, and Commodus, and I have come up with one that (i think) comes the closest. I think that I will go with Elagabalus, Nikopolis Varbanov 4080 (unless you have a reason why I shouldn't?) The bust shape most closely resembles my coin, and the (obverse) legend matches.
