All we've been hearing about in SW MI is how NW MI got hit hard, especially Sleeping Bear Dunes area. We didn't know the east side got hit hard too. Glad to hear that you're doing fine.

I well know how you feel. I've been through several of those and it woke me up to getting a generator. Now the last few times we lost power, I just started it up, ran extension cords all over the place. I also learned not to get a small one. The bigger the better. On loss of hundreds of dollars in food makes one a bit smarter.

Thanks all. We do have a generator but I didn't want to hook up the puter in fear of messing it up. I already have 10 cords going to 8 items sooo.

Welcome back... I'm in the same boat you are. There are periods during the winter where I've gone 4 days without power at a time. You learn to wear lots of layers indoors as well!

Glad you're back.

The last few times we were without power, my husband hooked up the WiFi to a car battery. (He has just informed me that it was a little more complicated than that!) At least we could get online to see weather maps. One does grow weary of huddling in the basement.

You might be surprised. We got my 12 yo daughter a relatively nice Motorola smartphone with a unlimited minutes/texts and a small amount of internet service for only $19 a month. Phone was $15 + shipping (refurbished). Smartphones aren't very expensive anymore unless you need the latest Apple/Samsung, etc.
