I picked three ugly, but raw, and very old coins out of my albums for fun. All of them have "issues". (Look at the cheek on this one.) No, it's not fake.

Obviously, it's a details coin, but if it were problem-free, what would it grade out to be?

Price paid: $45

You paid 45 for a ex45 IMO if it wasn't damaged.

Looks like it slid across pavement or a sidewalk at some point. Which begs the question - if that happened as part of its normal life in circulation (someone dropped it on the ground or something), would that be considered part of its normal wear?

$45 was a lot of money for me in 2002 when I bought this. It's one of the reasons I learned to not trust ebay sellers with terrible pictures.
