I should clarify (HAD) as I sold this coin several years ago, but it was by far the finest nickel I have ever owned.  What look like scratches are just die polish and probably kept this nickel from a MS67 grade. I've also had quite a few nice Proof Liberty nickels, but none were as nice as this business strike Shield nickel.    "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Both sides have a slight gold patina, with the reverse more so.   Edited by jpsned

Looks natural to me here, though I think the lighting I used for the reverse enhanced the color somewhat. It's the way I found it--it's a family heirloom.
