The two other coins from the 5 coin lot. Total price: $144.

1891 IHC -- notably darker than the others, almost brown.

1891-&-1893-Indian-Head-Cents,-Grade/Opinions?

1893 IHC -- Something going on with the reverse - ONE CENT shows Longacre (strike?) doubling and the E in ONE has die chips or ? inside the letter. Obverse has a hit on chin and in front of ear. It does not have grainy surfaces, I do not know what happened with the camera on that one.

Edit on the 1893: Has a very fine die crack running through UNITED. I put it under 40-60x and found somewhat extensive die polishing (?) and heavy flow lines, this may be a late die state coin, hence the weirdness; not sure.

A picture of all five coins to make the color comparison.

Would appreciate any help on grade, attribution, and if the color is legit or questionable?

Thanks!

1891 - AU-55 (I would give it 58 except for that weirdness on the lowest feather - did that start with a carbon spot or someting?)

1893 - MS-63 or 64 - The stuff you're seeing on "ONE CENT" appears to be "Longacre doubling," not real doubling.

Nice Indians paralyse, 1891 looks AU-58 and the 1893 MS-63BN, too bad about the little dings on the obverse of the '93

The '91 looks 55ish to me. The '93 is tough, could well be cleaned I agree. Perhaps 63RB, but perhaps Unc. details.

The 1893 is harshly cleaned....AU details at best....visible wear on the ribbon and high points on the reverse.

I hate to say this, but all of those coins are likely cleaned.

I honestly believe both have been cleaned. The 1891 looks to have old cleaning & has retoned.

I was fairly certain that most of them were "off-color", and it looks like I was actually on the right path for once.

They're album hole-fillers, not slab coins, so I'm okay with them being a bit "off" as long as they're not hideously ugly.
