Hi.

I´m new here. I started study dollar cents recently.

I need a help about a PENNY coin -1995.

The " Close AM" is normal or is an error variety ?

There's no mint mark.

If it is possible I would like a list (relation) of a pennies that " Close AM" is normal.

Thank You.

theres 4 dates to watch out for when it comes to the AM. 1992 has a Wide AM, and the Close AM is the rare variety. 1998,99,and 2000 have close AMs normally, while those with the Wide AM are the variety. hope this helps

The '96 likely did not exist (do a bit of googling). I do not understand the persistence of conjecture regarding this variety? http://www.lincolncentforum.com/for...t-13235.html

Just another case of a "Breen numismatic "fact"", pervading the hobby....

The 1995 and 1996 Wide AM cents were fakes. You could see the seam on both (in spite of the fact Billy missed it on the 1996).

Brian Allen and I removed the 1996 from our book Strike It Rich With Pocket Change after we learned that Billy reported it stolen and Coin World investigated his claims and found much of his story to be false.

He did not set up at the show he claimed to be at (the bourse chairman filed a complaint with CONECA for reporting Billy as being set up there, stating he was not there at all), he did not report the coins stolen to his brother-in-law (as he claimed -- his brother-in-law stated this was false and that he wasn't even in the the proper jurisdiction for him to make such a claim with him), etc.

His coin was "stolen" only after the 1995 " Wide AM" was reported a few weeks later and proven to be a fake.

Both the 1995 and 1996 had severely rotated dies as we so often see on the double-headed magicians coins.

You do the math!

By your own statement amida17, there is a chance that it does exist. There seems to be two schools of thought on the matter. As long as there is even a slight chance it exists, it will remain on my list of coins to check for. If I find it, I can pay off my house.
Everyone has an opinion, and in gray areas such as this, every opinion should be respected. Here is one of numerous other opinions:
Notable Mention:
In January 2009, Billy Crawford author of Die Variety News, a bi-monthly magazine dedicated to the various die varieties of Lincoln cents and other US coins, reported the discovery of a unique 1996 Wide AM variety Lincoln Cent. The coin was reported to have a 50 degree rotational die error reverse and be of the Wide AM variety. It was said to have been stolen from him along with other coins in a robbery outside of a coin show a short time later. Its existence was never authenticated by a third party grading service, and its current whereabouts is unknown.

Note: Values in this guide are intended for reference only, not as an actual price guide.

I was just about to quote CM's list about looking out for a 1996 Wide AM to reply that there's no such thing of a 1996 WAM cent, that it was supposedly a hoax.

Drew, the story goes That Mr. Crawford (who was at the top of his profession at the time), was ridiculed, and called a liar. He folded everything up and left the business. Some believe he was honorable, some do not. I would like to find the penny to clear his name and pay off my house. lol
