Dunno why you're stumped. You have two of these, and it's only a few hours since we talked about the last one.

Nooo, the other one doesn't have a double eye. I will upload obverse when I get home but they are different.

That's the VAM-13 reverse, the cracks through STATES OF are unique and diagnostic, and no other 1887 uses that reverse. And you yourself said in the original post above that it has an alligator eye.

this coin ( https://goccf.com/t/237320) does not have the alligator eye. which makes it a 13-13a. the coin in this post DOES have an alligator eye and a clashed obverse N which makes the obverse die different than in the coin I posted the link to. which I'm under the assumption that if a different die is used then the VAM number would be different correct? or am I confusing myself. and to my knowledge the only 2 posts I have made with the 1887 was this one and the one linked above.

Hmmm. Had it in my mind that 13 had an alligator eye.

Well, this coin has a VAM-13 obverse and reverse. The die cracks do not lie, and that's all. The neck clash is very low for a Morgan, uncommon and another confirming pickup for 13A.

So all we have to do is explain the alligator eye, and Machine Doubling does that easily.
