Not I. Should I get my two sets, one is going in the collection and the other is going in storage so I have a backup / something the grandkids can sell for a pack of cigarettes when I'm old and senile.

Yep...my son can sell all my coins someday down the road...and no I am not sending mine in either. One set will go with the proof presidential set and the other set will stay with the Coin & Chronicles set which is up to date except for the Teddy Roosevelt one that I will have to pick up on ebay someday.

Hello Everyone! I am a long time reader, first time poster. I have never submitted anything for a grade, but I am tempted to have my Ike sets graded. Can anyone explain the fees for submission to NGC? I know there is a cost to ship to NGC, a collection of fees for grading/labeling, and then finally a cost to have the item shipped back. I have a little background in statistics and am building a simple "expected value" model to see if it is worth it to submit. The model compares two scenarios: (1) Selling ungraded on ebay for XXX dollars with 100% certainty. Will probably use a value of $200 but will keep on eye on what things seem to sell for and then net out the ebay fees. v. (2) Selling graded on ebay. The value for this option consists of weighted values for what a PF68, 69 and 70 would sell for. I am going to assume that there is a 2% chance of PF68, 93% chance of PF69, and 5% chance of PF70. This is based off the latest data from the Trumans. Going to assume that a 68 and 69 will go for a little more than an ungraded set, but that a 70 would sell for $1,200. Once again I will make sure to net out ebay fees so I am comparing actual net profit to actual net profit. What my model is missing is the extra cost beyond the cost of the set that I need to include to have a set graded. If anyone can detail the various fees by shipping and grading for a set (coin + medal), I would greatly appreciate it!

Not me. I ordered the one and only one set that I wanted. It will join the others in OGP paradise.

Last time I looked Bassmaster...the 69 Trumans were selling for a bit less than the ungraded sets, but early on they were selling for a bit more. I would look at them VERY closely before I spent the $'s to grade. VERY closely, as like you said the greatest chance is getting them back as 69's so there would be a net loss after grading fees are added. If any came back as 68's I would just put them in the OGP and sell them that way.

Let's see...the last NGC70 sold for $1147.....just the $1...
So two submissions would be a valid "lottery play" for the chance to get a rare 70...
If you don't then just chalk it up...but at least you were in the race

The one that goes into the collection won't, the one that will be used to pay for the one staying in the collection will.

Well the one I am selling has a dot on the obv. but the other is quite nice... although I see some very tiny specks in certain light and feel that if I can see anything at all naturally that it wouldn't grade a 70.
