Usually these fake Trade dollars are up for usually several hours but this one appears as if it's been up a day or so.

Considering the seller said he bought on ebay quite some time ago, I wouldn't doubt the fact that he doesn't actually realize it's a counterfeit. Probably paid a pretty penny too.

I sent this short note: just in case you do not know this already.... this is a Chinese counterfeit coin. Hopefully you will do the right thing and pull this listing

Here is his reply: As I purchased this coin listed on ebay in Sept. of last year I can only assume that it is an authentic coin. Are you saying that all Trade dollars listed on this site are fakes? If that is not what you are saying then how do you determine the authenticity of a coin from a distance? Almost all Trade dollars minted in the U.S. were sent to the Orient, so it is only natural that would be the point of origination..
Then I must ask you how are you so certain that this coin or any other is authentic or not? Are you a professional coin grader on which I can rely? Please state your qualifications. As you are asking me to take a total loss on this coin I would like to know such.
Respectfully, TS

He doesn't sound like a very happy camper at the moment. I will email him back

Be sure you tell hime they used a type 1 obv hub for this piece, and the mint stopped using the type 1 hub in I believe 1876.
