I need a non bicentennial Ike for a modern type set and looked at so many PCGS 69 DCAMs in the $25 to $60 range then I came across this listing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/17188978946...RK:MEBIDX:IT
I kind of like that one, or should I get a PCGS one like this instead?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/17187347066...RK:MEBIDX:IT

It's on my list of things to do but I haven't started an Ike album yet so I haven't bought very many of them in the past.

Opinions?

Thanks for reading! ('')

I guess it depends on whether you will be collecting raw coins, slabs, or labels.

You mentioned an album so a slabbed purchase doesn't fit.

The NGC coin is not graded...just slabbed so the price should be less..

The PCGS coin is PF69 DCAM which is a nice coin and grade but again..slabbed.

Depends on the direction that you want to go...

You could buy a 1973 mint set and use the NIFC Ikes in it...if you're interested in breaking up a mint set and getting rid of the other coins

Thanks for the advise~!! Good idea on the mint or proof set. It doesn't have to be a 1973....just any Ike other than the 1976. And yes Foxwoods for this one set I don't mind cracking an occasional slab if I need to. I have been little disappointed with a few ebay purchases in the past so since this is a rather large coin I want it to stand out...maybe? I put in a bid on a really nice toned one I liked and was out bid in the last 2 seconds which is ok.
The last coin show was in mid May and the next one within driving distance for me isn't until October 10th, and I don't have a good LCS close by. Wish I did! I don't enjoy shopping online for coins at all. I will continue my search for just the right one for that spot

I suggest looking for some in an auction format. You will be able to get a 77 or 78 PR69 DCAM for about $10 if you don't mind losing a few auctions first.

Never mind, I just saw you were shopping for silver.

Not a bad idea.

I did that to fill those holes in my 8176 (Eisenhower Dansco Album). The other coins filtered down into the appropriate albums as well.

If it's for a modern type set, I'd say get a mint set or proof set.
