I have been slowly collecting coins for at least 16 years now, started as a young teenager when my great grandmother left me 8 Walking Liberty half dollars. I collect mostly US coins 1964 and older, the silver ones of course. For pennies I tend to only hold onto 1959 and older. Been debating lately about holding onto maybe 1979 and older though as I have gotten older and those coins get older in turn.
I have probably been outbidding some people here lately on ebay.. been buying a ton of indian head, Liberty nickels and large cents the last few weeks. I look for the good deals in their last few minutes of auction and buy them for $0.99 or a little more if I feel it's worth it.
I'd like to expand my collection into morgan's, more liberty coins, draped coins etc.. the very early US coinage. With the wealth of knowledge I have seen here this site could really help with not buying fakes or overpaying to badly.
Anyways, I could go on but I will stop here and get to know everyone as I venture into the forums. Feel free to ask questions or compare coins. Thanks!
My best hope is that you buy coins valued at over $200 slabbed only, never buy from China or from sellers from China and always play it safe with key coins.
This site has definitely helped me when it comes to identifying suspect/fake coins. It's crazy the number of listings these guys find here on a daily basis that have issues.
