Well, I just read that, Jimmy Carter has liver cancer, so, if he dies, BEFORE the Ronald Reagan dollar coin comes out, regardless of how recent his death, be it a month, or a week or even a DAY "before" Reagan's $1 coin comes out, there should be a Jimmy Carter dollar coin released, and maybe even push back the issuance of the Reagan $1 coin. I know that, in order to be put on a coin or a bill, the person must be dead for two years, going by law, but hey, they made the exception for the Reagan $1 coin being included in the Presidential dollar Coin program, even though at first, they weren't going to skip over from Gerald Ford past Jimmy Carter, to Ronald Reagan, so I believe they could do a Carter $1 coin, if he dies before the Reagan $1 coin comes out. I know Reagan's been dead for more than two years, but what difference does it make, how long Carter is dead before he gets his coin? After all, the main rule of the law is "must be dead before being put on a coin or bill"

That's kind of sick to ask this question.

I am no big Carter fan, but I wish him the best and hope he beats it. As I would wish for anyone with cancer.

The man is living... Enough said. Some things are more important than coins bud.

Yep, I would never want someone to die, just so he would have a shot on a coin or banknote. No big loss for Carter to miss his chance, if he could live well into his 100s. My great grandma, lived to be 107 had cancer when she was 96 years old, and they wanted to give her chemo, and she just told them "What are you? NUTS?! I'm 96 years old! If I die, I die" And look. She lives 11 years longer. She stayed in pretty good shape and played cards a lot until her final two weeks, that's when she got bad, so, all in all, she lucked out in life, especially seeing as she raised 7 kids at a young age, due to my great grandfather backing into an open elevator shaft in his 30s.
Sorry if I went a bit off topic.
HONDO, I DON'T want Carter to die, just so he can get a coin. I'm just saying "if" he did. I actually got a little ticked when I read in certain places on other boards, about people actually "hoping" Carter would die so that Reagan would deffinatly get a coin, which I found to be quite repulsive.

I don't think we need to even discuss this. Carter is still alive, and it is absolutely despicable for anyone to assume he will die just because he has cancer. I'm very disappointed in you, Fox, for even putting this question up for debate.

Woah, WHoa WHOA! Guys! I NEVER INTENDED that I ***WANTED*** Carter to die! Did you NOT read my last post on the issue?!?!?! I DO NOT WANT CARTER TO DIE! I know what knowing someone who has cancer is like. My mom also had breast cancer, and had her breast removed for safety precautions. If I made such a bad thread, then I apologize. BUT, my main concern for IF Carter did die, "before" the Reagan coin was released, that at the very LEAST, Carter would or "SHOULD" get a coin to honor him, as one of our great Presidents. So, to all of you who thought I was meaning bad toward Carter, who wants Carter to beat his cancer, by the way, by posting topic, excuse "ME" for living. Oh, and let me conclude my post by stating that I am both shocked and somewhat disgusted by all of you who could think I would "think" to hope that someone would "die", just to get a coin. I don't even like the Presidential dollar Coin series, but only felt that, if Carter DID die BEFORE Reagan's coin came out that no matter how late Carter die in 2016 before the release date of the Reagan coin, be it a month, week, day, whatever, Reagan's coin should be pushed back, and Carter should get his coin.

Agree on pushing back Reagan and adding Carter in the unfortunate situation you describe. Same thing for George HW Bush if that were to happen in that time frame, though no need to push back Reagan in Bush's case.

That's another thing I mentioned. Should the unfortunate happen with George HW Bush, they could extend the Presidential dollar Coin Act into 2017, but I always questioned that, unless they did Bush Senior coins in 2016, by trying to squeeze in 5 coin designs into one year, would Congress have to enact legislation to extend the Presidential dollar Coin program into 2017, due to the fact that the legislation calls for the program to "end" in 2016? Like I said, hopefully, we will NOT have to go through this issue with either Carter OR Bush Senior, or ANY other President, for that matter.

Mr Carter may not have been the best President of the USA but he has proven to be an incredible humanitarian and statesman with time. Wish only the best for him.
