Actually purchased proof sets because I wanted the Ike dollars. 1976=$6.29 1978=$7.50. Did I do OK? Also the cent in the 1978 set is growing black stuff, anything I can do about that?

Also, how does one go about removing these from the plastic holder? I'm hoping the scratches on the '76 are on the plastic and not on the coin.

Experience says the only scratch is the one in front of the eye. Perhaps not.

I shove an awl between the dollar and half. The '76 set opens fairly easily most of the time.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Very nice indeed.

The thing with Ike's is... Once you buy your first one, you get addicted and have to buy more. :)

As a kid growing up in the 70's I loved the Ike dollars, I hoarded every one I got my hands on, along with my wheat cents, which were fairly common to find in change then. About 12 yrs ago I had a total loss house fire, including my Ikes and Wheat Cents. Fast forward to now ...I am rapidly approaching the half century mark, I don't know why I decided to start collecting coins but I sure know I am enjoying it. I am currently CRH cents, trying to put my wheatie hoard back together, and trolling ebay for affordable Ikes. I love Ikes and have been addicted since the 70's.
