I have bought a few coins from heritage and stacks. They place a sticker on the top of the TPG holder with the coins lot number. When I remove these stickers it leaves a sticky residue that drives me nuts. What would be a good solvent to remove this and not soften the plastic holder?

Try a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a piece of cotton wool. It has worked for me in the past without damaging the plastic.

I actually use diabetic rubbing alcohol swabs - 100 sealed packets for $1. There is only a tiny amount of alcohol and the non-woven fabric provides just enough friction to pick up the sticky. Each one is good for two or three slabs, but they do evaporate quickly.

You should test on an inconspicuous place, but I've never had a problem with an NGC or PCGS slab or any of the truly hard plastics.

Leave the stickers on the slabs and start hyping the dickens out of "Auction House Set Collecting".

Add a 30% premium to each stickerd slab.

My solution would be to crack the coin from the slab.

I am aware this might not be ideal, especially if collect slabbed coins.

Goo Gone, Alcohol, WD-40

Just whatever you do keep it away from the seam in the edge.

I use Goo Gone and it does not hurt the plastic. On the Heritage coins I have no issue with the PCGS slabs as they put a plain white paper over the PCGS 3D sticker. The NGC slabs have given me trouble getting the goo off. When I use Goo Gone, I put in on soft cotton then wipe. I do not pour the Goo gone directly on the plastic.

I actually did not have goo gone. I used something called Oops, this melts the plastic, absolutely do not use this! Had to polish the slab.

I checked the brand and I used Elmer's Sticky Out. It is citrus based with no harmful solvents.

I first tried acetone once it started to melt the holder. Goo gone works but leaves an oily smell, but I think that should go away if I wipe it with soapy water.
