Trying to identify this coin. I believe I have translated the date to say 1982 - 14 - 2 but still cannot make any sense of the coin. It has a mint mark CHI in a circle and 900 which I am assuming means 900 fine. It weighs 11.0 grams. Any help in identifying would be very helpful!!

On the top picture, the words at the ~3 o'clock position reads Dawlat Bahrain which literally translates as "Country Bahrain", at 6 o'clock the date reads 1982 - 1402, at ~9 o'clock it reads "Bayt al-Quran" which literally translates as 'House of the Quran - I am pretty sure there must be a more accurate religious translation for this phrase. The 12 o'clock position phrase reads 'The 15th Century'.

The other side has extremely stylized letter which have a rough parallel to 'calligraphy' in English. They are a religious quote from the Qur'an (Surah 15 A'yah 9 and Surah 17 A'yah 9).

Your coin is a commemorative medal celebrating the opening of the Bayt al-Quran (the article lists an established date of 1990 - but I believe it opened in 1982):

The CHI in a circle mintmark I believe indicates it was minted in Chiasso, Switzerland. I think some Valcambi gold bars have the same symbol.

Your coin sounds like it has the right weight, it should be 26mm in diameter. Pretty interesting piece.

Jake the Dog,
Thank you so much for your response. This helped me immensely to become educated on this coin. Once I started researching the coin/medal based on what you replied with I found a lot of information on it, so once again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Charlie/enzeno
