The gray is showing the zinc under the plating when the high spots get worn off.

Die chips , cracks and breaks in Liberty are lumped under the heading BIE. So as odd as it may seem , this is a BIE error.

732Amran, just a reminder that the first lincoln die hub was made in 1909, the die itself isn't 200 yet, and the dies made today are NEW dies, freshly made THIS year. If I made a mistake, please correct me. I'm not feeling 100% today.
