I saw so many nice tetradrachms of alexander being posted on cc that I really wanted one too! After following several tetradrachms on auctions this example. Of course there are better examples but it was really affordable and offered by savoca coins. I won the auction for a good price and it arrived today! Its a lifetime/early posthumous issue which is a plus. Ruler: Alexander III State, City: Macedonia Coin: silver Tetradrachm - Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin ALambda;EXi;ANDelta;POY BASigma;ILambda;EOmega;Sigma; - Zeus seated left with eagle and sceptre; Kerykeion in left field and monogram below throne Mint: Arados (324-320 BC) Wt./Size/Axis: 17.16g / 27mm / - References: Price 3332 Edited by Dutchgulden 08/19/2015 4:49 pm

Nice pickup Dutch.
I bought my Alexander Tet off him too. I had no issues at all and it looked better in hand than the auction pictures.

Hard to beat this style of coin, large, silver, with a notable historical figure and a pleasing design. Yours is no exception. Congrats.

Nice coin mate the Aradus emissions have a particular style to them which is easy to pick out among others primarily the obverse.

I particularly like the "King" Alexander legend.
My advice is to wrap it in b&w newsprint and put inside a cigar box then stash it inside a warm dark closet for twenty years !
You will be even more pleased with it !
