I have a 1989 silver eagle (encapsulated) I like to carry around as my "good luck charm" and fidget with to keep myself occupied. Couple of nights ago I was watching tv with a can of Brisk and the coin on an end table. I noticed the rim on the bottom of the can looked very similar in size to the capsule, so for fun I went to see if it would fit. Sure enough the coin popped in, but would not come out. I had to finish my drink before I could manipulate the can so the coin would pop out. Had me nervous for a second.

So that's what lead to my idea, buy specially marked 12 packs of "XYZ" drink, and look for a silver eagle on the bottom of the can as a giveaway, similar to Cheerios giving away the dollar coins. (Or as a giveaway idea in the concession area of future coin shows) :D

First pic shows the can standing nonchalantly with the coin stuck under the rim.

Second is an overshot view of the coin stuck in the rim.

Third is a horizontal view.

That you somehow made this connection is in and of itself indicative of mental numismatia.

Hey if any of the dealers do this at the WFoM next year as a promotion (in lieu of a raffle) I'll take my royalties in silver eagles. :D

When I worked in retail, there was a month where P&G shipped a coupon book with all of their diapers and certain other items. The coupon book had about 3 pages of coupons, each one for $3-8 off a warehouse club-size pack of various P&G products. Since store policy dictated that these could be stacked with store coupons, it was a pretty busy month.

Bottom line, I was called back to the diaper aisle one day. Some guy had ripped open a good 30 boxes of diapers for the coupon books, leaving the ripped boxes clogging up the aisle. The next day, he took to the toilet paper aisle, cutting the books out with a box cutter.

I shudder to think of what would happen if there was a $20-40 silver coin to be had.

Yeah, it would not bode well for the employees.
