Hi there!

New member of the coin community here. I've referred here a few times prior and had an inquiry finally.

I wanted to know about a coin I found in my change today. It's beat up 1997 Loonie but still retained some plating or lustre on it.

I referred to the Canadian Mint website and it said there were none intended for circulation.

Any recommendations? Should I just keep it with my other dollars / loonies?
Photos can be provided.

Thank you very much for your time!

Your coin is a mint set escapee. Cool find but if worn at all it's worth face value.

FLindy,

Yes, it is a cool find but only worth face value. You can keep it as a curio or, seeing that you are from Moncton, go down to the Coin Cabinet and put it towards something you have your eyes on.
