I never bought these types of medals before, but I wanted to collect some different historical medals, so I have bought several Norse medals, but I only saw "Thick" Silver. I was told it is very hard to find the "Thin" Silver and they're very expensive if you were to find them?

Is there any truth to that? I am looking for some direction or perhaps opinions.
Enjoy the pics!

Awesome Norse medals. I know there are a couple of knowledgeable commemorative collectors here at CCF that will have the answers to your questions.

On Collector's Corner there are 15 silver Norse medals listed for sale only 3 were of the thin variety

Lovely Norse you have there!

Many collectors of the classic silver commemorative set consider the Norse Medal to be the 51st Type Coin.

I have a PCGS FR02 example of the 'Thick' variety ... as a lowball collector that filled my need.

The Norse Medal was struck in four different variations ... two in silver, one in gold and one in bronze.

The silver 'thin' variety is the lower mintage of the two silver issues ... by over a factor of five (33,750 versus 6,000).
