They could have been polished but without pics of the whole coin obverse and reverse it is hard to tell.

Proof franklins did not come in rolls... Unless he filled rolls with proof coins, I'd sty away from these...
Is he advertising it as an original roll?

They are most likely Proof coins, but without a photo, it's anybody's guess what condition they are in. The end coin sure looks nice and untoned for being on the end of a roll exposed to the environment.

The pictured coin in the 58 roll "kinda" looks proof-ish..... The pictured coin in the 57 roll looks uncirculated. Absolutely no way to tell without seeing better pictures or the actual coins in-hand.
A lot of put together rolls of proof half dollars exist. Most are usually seen in plastic tubes though.

Stay away. They look unc, not proof. Especially the 57. Unless it's $7 or less per coin, do not even consider. If less than $7 average per coin, buy it regardless of whether proof or not. I'm gladly paying $7 for unc 90% 50cs.

The 58 looks proof , the 57 just not sure. my advice is stay away. I always looked down on so-called proof rolls. I believe they will have contact marks and other environmental issues.

How much was the person asking? Again, if less than $7 per coin, just buy and sell on ebay for a higher price. They go $8 or more, especially nice ones.

I'd stay away unless the Seller is selling the rolls super cheap.

Yes I agree with the rest....You really have no way of telling and unless it is cheap I wouldn't take the chance paying a premium for proof.

I cannot offer an opinion until a get a good look at the rims. Needs to be a full and flat view of obverse and reverse.

Well you know the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is"? Turns out the seller made a mistake and these pics were of bu 57-d and 58-d (two of the higher minted franklin years). I had committed to $9 a coin on the "proofs". They offered to sell me the 57 and 58-d bu rolls pictured for $140 each since they had a mistake in the listing. So to answer my original question, those pics were not proofs.

Quote:$140 a roll is still a pretty good price for Franklin half dollars. Especially in BU Unless they have been polished.
