How did you get into the love of coin collecting? Here's my story. My great-grandma (just turned 92!) gave me 2 half-dollars around 5-6 years ago. I set them somewhere in my room and didn't really think about them. Then I dug them up again, and noticed that there were 2 different designs. A 1970 and then the 1976 Bicentinniel. Then I got curious and started researching and BOOM! My hobby started. I have been collecting for 2-3 months. Oldest penny- 1924-D Oldest nickel- 1938-D Oldest dime- 1967-D Oldest Quater-1965. Thanks for reading!

Yes this question does get asked a lot. So many always wonder how others get hooked. Same goes for almost any hobby. Coins, guns, knives, swords I can see. I just never could figure out how someone would get interested in collecting beer cans.

I could see someone collecting empty beer cans. In fact I had a few buddies who were serious collectors back in college
Rest in Peace

I used to collect beer can and beer bottle openers.
( Church Keys ). I'm sure the older members have heard of them being called that.

T-BOP, I still collect beer cans and bottle openers..

I've been collecting those since around 1972.... In and out of the beer can collecting arena. I have one room dedicated to beer and coins and the other to my photographic studio. My little piece of heaven as my wife calls it..

I found a strange $2 coin in change from a local convenience store.

researched it here (off metal mint error),

fell in love with the CCF community,

sold it to a memeber here ($750.00 thank you!)

and used the funds to get started in collecting.

And guess what? I too found such a coin. Only mine was a $3 one. I also found and used many $3 bills.
Ever wonder why the government doesn't make $3, $4, $6, etc. bills or coins?
As to Beer cans, my Son too used to collect those. To him it ended as many such hobbies. All ended up in the garbage. Not a waste though since they went into one of those recycling bins.
One of the nicer things about this hobby of coins. Unlike Beanie Babies, sports cards, Stamps, Hot Wheels, Beer Cans and bottles, etc., coins just keep on getting more and more collectors.
Rest in Peace

You can spend a coin if you had to, you can't spend a beer can.

Hey TBop...

you could be right but....

Wouldn't it be nice to own this can, sell it for what he's asking for it and buy some coins? Means that the cans can be used to feed our other hobby..

This can is currently for sale on a beer can website (yes they have those too) and he'll get his price for it.

Currently listed for $7,500.00 -- think of the coins you could by with that $7,500!
