Looks authentic to me, but something has been done to it, maybe a slight polish. What does it weigh?

If I'm correct, '416' means its weight in Grains (should convert to about 25-26 grams) and '900' means .900 fine silver.

I cannot say anything about collector's value on this piece, I simply know too little.

Japan, 1 yen, I think 1874-75. 416 grains of .900 fine silver, hence the English inscription. This was later increases to 420 grains for the purpose of competing with foreign Trade dollars.

Yours does not scream counterfeit to me, but I would advise caution. These are prized by collectors of early modern Japanese coins, and seem to be worth something in the $50-200 range.

be more than carefull. This coin has also more replica's than real ones.
It does not look silver.
Test it for silver. But I am afraid you will be dissapointed

I'm afraid this is an absolutely, 100% guaranteed fake. The details on the leaves and the dragon are simply wrong.

I think the date is 17 ?
So it would be 1928.
But I can find nothing that looks like this coin.
And I have to agree with Sap about the details

Not good to me, I think it is a fake. Would you please to tell the diameter and weight of this coin, Bennytan? The rim looks thicker than usual, not a good sign.

I agree this coin does not look right compared with the one in my collection. Look at this one:

This is supposedly dated 1884.

Unfortunately this is not genuine and it would be worth scrap value. I do not believe this is silver either.
