Primarily the reverse. Looks like a dug coin that was like, sanded down or circulated.

I suspect a catastrophic scrape on the reverse followed by circulation smoothing out the irregularities. A Nickel was much more in those days than ours, and even a damaged one would be spent as long as it was obviously real.

Hope you're the one who got that for a buck.

Nah, that auction was only for the coins listed

1-Buffalo Nickel-Smooth With No Date
1-1911 Liberty "V" Nickel
1-1906 Indian Head penny
1-1936 Lousiana Luxury Tax Token in beautiful condition

The rest were just part of the "collection" or so he stated.

Still not a bad buy for just a buck, the 1911 Liberty nickel is worth about that by itself. Topped with the free shipping, I would have bought it for $2.
