Pathetic listing:

1st, there is no such thing as a Mint-made silver plug on a half dollar.
2nd, this coin is clearly NOT a 1794 half dollar. You don't need the date to determine this as the reverse eliminates that possibility. In fact, the coin appears to be a 1795 (O-113a).

I'm surprised that centsles aka Robert A Johnson, would have encapsulated in his NNC holder with the blatantly false "Silver Plug" and "1794/1795" nonsense.

While I personally would never bid on a $2000 coin being sold by someone who praises NNC as a great certification service and already has 2 serious grammatical errors in just the first sentence of the description, I do know that a few silver plug 1795 half dollars do exist. (reference 2016 RedBook and PCGS which has certified one.)

If you have a picture of one, I would be most interested in seeing it. The only one I have ever seen/heard of belonged to Mr. Willis and was certified by himself in his PCGS holder and looked like an after mint plug. Otherwise, I've never heard of nor seen this snipe coin.

If you look closely, the coin isn't even in an NNC holder, or a holder of any kind. Just the grading slip.

Fascinating topic. The ebay listing has a photo of a plugged 1795 obverse for comparison. It is easier to see the listed coin's plug on the reverse.

You know, I'm thinking Philadelphian might be knowledgeable on this subject if you wanna ping him. It's just a guess though. Seems like this might be right up his ally?
