Can anyone tell me what Type of error this coin is? It appears to be a phenomenal error that appears to be a civil war type bayonet going through Lincolns head.

It's a plating bubble and not very collectable but someone may want it as an oddity due to size and placement
Rest in Peace

The size might make it worth a few cents, but pretty common otherwise.

Is this the kind of bubble you can do the toothpick test with?

I took a risk and tried the smooth end of a plastic pen and applied heavy pressure on the coin. It is not a hollow bubble as it did not flatten.

I don't know that all gas bubbles cause a lack of structural integrity allowing them to collapse under light pressure.

Don't think of it as a thin-shelled bubble filled with air but more like an expanding yeasty dough. There's air inside but there is still structure to it -- at least for awhile.

You've got some good pics here so maybe you could put this coin away for a few more years and make a comparison. The bubble may not grow but it may weaken over time.... maybe. Maybe storing in a nice safe place will allow it to forever remain as it is.

If it's not a gas bubble I have no idea what it is. Sorry.
