I got these Chinese banknotes a few years ago as part of a lot. Can anyone tell me if there are genuine banknotes or modern counterfeits.

I am quite sure that the Pick numbers are correct.

They are not genuine.

An authentic 10 yuan specimen note may be seen here.

An authentic 1000 yuan specimen note may be seen here.

I would guess that the notes featured and the links are modern reproductions rather than counterfeits.

The original ones don't have the large red overprints to the left and right on the face or the 'serial' numbers on the reverse.

The authentic notes referenced in the links were sold at a major auction in Beijing in 2014.

The auction was held by the Beijing Poly International Auction Company which is the third largest auction house in the world (after Christie's and Sotheby's).
