On a number of occasions I have gone to 'Wildwinds' to find a specific coin, knowing that it is there because I have found it there before, or because I have been referred by another who has found it there, only to not be able to find it. This has perplexed me, and others that I have spoken to about it.
The answer is simple. If you do not put 'www.' before entering 'wildwinds.com' you will be guided to an 'older' version of 'wildwinds' and you will miss the thousands of pieces of updated information that have taken place over recent years.
To access the latest 'wildwinds' data (site) you must ensure that your 'bookmark states 'www.' followed by wildwinds.com or that you enter it in full by hand.
(This information has been confirmed to me by 'Wildwinds' management with a request to pass it on.)

So why doesn't he fix it? Should take no more than five minutes?

I'll send her an email and ask about the difference.

It's an old 'back-up' copy.

I just sent Dane an email. I wasn't aware of the newer version so I asked for clarification about the difference.

"So why doesn't he fix it? Should take no more than five minutes?" There is nothing to fix. When we use a correct URL we will get to where we want to go. It is up to us to use a correct URL (include the http://www.) and it is not up to us to tell someone else how to run their business.

You obviously know nothing about how the internet works. It can severely hurt them. But you're right, if they don't care, I surely don't.

Does Wildwinds not list the coins with thumbnails up? I'm getting image links on the word "Image" instead.
What is the name of the coin listing site that displays thumbnails for each entry, even for a search return?

I don't know anything about how the internet works, so this comment might be completely wrong. It seem to me if there are two versions of this very large file running, it would require double the server space. Why would they want to pay for twice the space?

It's a lot worse than just server space.

Thanks TC, could explain a couple of things!
And given Dane's background, I wouldn't dream of telling her how to run Wildwinds.

There seems to be a bit of confusion over what seemed to me to be a rather 'simple' thing. This may be because with my lack of knowledge of the internet and indeed many other things, (as a wise person once said) "Ignorance is bliss". And therefore I am ignorant. When I enquired at Wildwinds as to why I couldn't find some coins listed that I knew were in fact there, I was told the following, which made it clear to me, and I thank them for it. I apologise that in trying to help I may have been the source of any confusion that has arisen, but I hope that by publishing their reply, it ends any confusion for you, too.
"You need to know how the nitty gritty of the internet works. The internet is not all connected to the world wide web, which is the www bit. There are a lot of websites out there that, if you enter e.g. www.[anyname].[suffix] you will get an error message. This is because the part of the server - or the company's website or whatever - is for some reason of their own - deliberately not part of the world wide web. Most website owners have one website on the www and a backup or internal stuff without the www bit. This is a bit like a company having two buildings next to each other - the second building being, say, the company canteen, but only giving the one main address on their notepaper. The wildwinds.com you are getting to, when you leave off the www is an old backup on the server, so of course there are literally thousands of coins missing, and this is very possibly why you have looked for coins, not seen examples, and are surprised when I tell you that the coin type has been on wildwinds for ages. So please tell the other people that the error is not with wildwinds - it's their lack of understanding on the difference between the internet, server usage and the world wide web and that the use of www is vital."

Sorry, almost all of that post is incorrect. There's a difference between intranet and internet. A site does NOT need to start with "WWW" to be on the "World Wide Web," the backup is indeed on the "World Wide Web," the lack of the "WWW" has nothing to do with it.
