US-Mint-Opens-Sales-For-2015-Lyndon-B.-Johnson-$1-Coin-Cover-On-Sept.-17

This limited edition coin cover includes two circulating quality Lyndon B. The coins are mounted on a display card and placed inside an envelope with a Red, White, and Blue (Forever®) stamp. The cover also features President Johnson's portrait and the postmark "Stonewall, TX, September 17, 2015," which marks the day the United States Mint issued the coin cover. Only 15,000 units will be produced.

Orders will be accepted at the bureau's online catalog at https://www.catalog.usmint.gov/ and at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), while hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468). I started this series and have to finish it. While I really do like FDCCs, considering the price of these things, I'll be glad when it's done. I've been trying to put my set together from ebay where you can get them for much cheaper than the $20/each the Mint is charging. But still, it's an insane markup.

Gee, I was going to order the Kennedy Chronicles set on Wednesday the 16th, but maybe I'll wait a day to also order this Johnson FDC and then save on shipping. Sounds like a plan!

You left a "1" off... it's actually $19.95 + shipping. And thus my reluctance to buy directly from the Mint.

You are paying for the whole package, not just the coins.

If you only want the coins, move along, nothing to see here.

However, there is nothing wrong if you want the package. Collect what you like.

The sets look nice but for me personally I just can't justify the cost. I went on ebay and bought the 2 coins for less than $4 and free shipping.

Since I had collected all the State Quarter Coin Covers, and had found a decent FDC album to put them in, I decided to go ahead and collect the Presidential dollar Coin Covers too. It's been a long painful road (not to mention pricey), but I am now thankful for two things:

1. This Presidential dollar Cover series is almost over.
2. The US Mint never started an America the Beautiful Quarter Cover series.

Congratulations on the two sets, captainrich. Maybe you will be able to build an ATB one for cheap after the series is done.

Definitely.

I'm guessing collections have been liquidated so you're able to get these at far less than retail. If only there had been some EU's in these!
