I listed 148 circulated 40% jfk half dollars on craigslist and this guy offered me $250 for all of them. Is this a fair offer?

Spot price is around $320. I wouldn't take the offer. APMEX offers $4 per one-dollar face value, if you are really looking for a quick sale.

wait until you get enough posts in and sell them here. There are alot of buyers/sellers on this forum. You need 250 posts to sell.

I would sell them to APMEX. If they offer $4 per every $1 face, then you'd get $196.

Get as close to spot as you can. 250 is way too cheap to let them go.

Thanks everyone. Has anyone ever sold to APMEX and if so did you have any problems with them?

They're a pretty solid outfit. I've bought from them but never sold anything.

Imo, you'll get the most for those coins by putting them up for auction on ebay _ where I've never seen them go for under spot, and usually for quite a bit higher. If you don't want to take the chance of an auction, putting them up as a Buy-It-Now for a little bit over spot would still give you a much larger return than the offer your getting. I'd suggest doing a little research too, by checking out how much the coins are going for on ebay - and figuring out how best sell them (i.e., all together, or broken up into a couple of smaller batches). You have a desirable commodity in those coins, and should try to get the most for them that you can. I certainly wouldn't sell them for under spot in today's market.

I got them for face value so by loosing a little bit wont hurt. I've been getting whole rolls of 40% halves from the bank the last two weeks.

Whole rolls for face? Where is this bank and do they have a spare hand cart?
Don't sell yourself short.

My guess is that what your getting are some rolls sold to the bank by a very poorly informed customer. Congrats. Good Luck has come your way for a while, but who knows how long those rolls are going to last. You can sell them for whatever you want, of course, but I don't see why you wouldn't want to get as much for them as you can. A couple of months ago I needed some quick cash so put some silver quarters (worth $114 spot) up on ebay for a Buy-It-Now of $ 128 with buyer pays shipping. They sold in under 5 minutes.
