Hello,

I'm about to start cracking my clad proof sets and taking out the dimes, nickels, halves and any quarters with animals on them.

My question is would airtites and airtite album or dansco album be best for them?

Airtites will certainly retard toning.
Too keep them as pristine as possible don't handle the coins with your fingers.
Lint-free cotton gloves is suggested.
Rest in Peace

The airtites will be the best holder for your proof coins. and yes then put them in an airtite album . And as mentioned above, use cotton gloves, you don't want finger prints on your proofs.

If you're using airtites for proof coins, make sure there is no lint, dust or fingerprints on the inside of the capsule before placing the coin in. Anything like that will show up easily against the proof coin. A quick wipe with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth and then a spot check is recommended.

I have proof coins in my Dansco albums and I have no complaints. Mine is just one opinion though.

If my coins aren't certified, airtites is the way I go. They are pretty much sealed in there with the small amount of air from the environment.
Just don't seal it next to your cars exaust pipe :-)

Do yourself a favor and buy a can of air (computer duster). A quick blast of both halves makes sure the AirTite is clean. If you use a cloth, there's a chance you'll actually introduce some lint or other particles into the holder.

This.

If you do go the Dansco route, that same can of air is recommended.

Yeah, there's nothing worse than putting a proof coin in an airtite only to find a fine red thread or a large piece of dust trapped in there too.

Thanks for all of the replies. I ordered 250 airtites tonight and a album to put them in.

Badthad that is a very nice way to display coins and I've never thought about doing any of my coins that way. Thanks for sharing and I'll be doing some of my silver coins like that soon.

Yes, it is. I have one of BadThad's earlier posts bookmarked for that reason...

There are air tight tubes out there also. Most of my proofs are stored this way. Put coin in air tight, the air tight in tube with other air tights.

Works out pretty nice.
