What Happened To This 1985 Jefferson Nickel?

I came across this nickel awhile back while CRH . I saw the post on the thin quarter .. could that be the same thing that happened to this coin? I weighed it when I took the pics, and, if I remember correctly, it weighs a good .7 grams less than it should.

Looks like acid damage to me or maybe a buried coin find.

By the way, that looks like a '46 rather than '85 to me...

I have one like that, too. It's very thin and underweight, and so corroded you can barely make out the contours of the design, with all legends (including date) obliterated.
