I pulled this 93 D Lincoln Cent from pocket change. Does it appear to be a legitimate mint struck unplated planchet?
I don't see any telltale signs of un-plating or plating, but I'm certainly no expert. I was concerned about the "IN GOD WE" where it appears to have coloring.
After giving the coin a gentle rub, the copper color gone away rather that increasing. Albeit the lighting is slightly different, I don't see any evidence of copper undercoating. Thoughts?
I am no pro but I think a genuine unplated cent has a "cartwheel" appearance and a striped one has a kinda dull look to it.Give it a bit and a pro will chime in. John1
It weighs 2.52 g compared with an 83 which was 2.53 g.
I also saw what looks suspicious on the reverse around the "NIT" took additional pictures and found that halogen light vs natural adj fluorescent really brings out the red. I see a small spot on the rim too.
