Quote: Not to argue but, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario a crown corp. the only place to purchase booze in my fair province offer Air Miles and there are probably many other examples, this is just a flawed reward system trying to offer basically a trinket for your best customers.
Liquor laws are under Provincial jurisdiction are they not? If so, that's much different than a Crown Corporation which is Canadian and (technically) owned by the citizens of Canada. And AirMiles is not a government affiliate. If RCM is to give away valuable freebies, what's to say they have the right to pick and choose who they give away their profits (aka money that is otherwise earned by the Cdn govt) regardless of how much $ anyone has chosen to purchase by their own free will? In my opinion what's really wrong is that much of the coins RCM mints (ie Loonie Tunes, Superman, etc) should be sold by private companies in the form of medallions and RCM should stick to commemorative and proof issues. it's become far too commercialized.....as the expectation of reward programs would suggest.

There is a huge incentive for the RCM to sell directly to consumers at full retail rather than at wholesale to dealers. There is plenty of incentive to create loyal direct customers - otherwise, there would be no Masters Club. They have to balance that with the benefits and perceived benefits of supporting a secondary market but only as it results in increases in profits. That includes understanding the significant cost associated with acquiring and maintain loyal customers. Years ago, the MC members used to get unexpected gifts. Here's one example: https://goccf.com/t/115228&SearchTe...08,medallionThere were also bookmarks and Christmas ornaments as I recall. They weren't much but they were true 'gifts' in that they were not a direct quid pro quo. We also used to get very nice large books that contained images and narratives for every coin produced in that year. Those were collectibles that complimented the hobby. It seems the only purpose of the current MC program is to dangle a carrot in front of the assumed uninformed masses and IMO demonstrates a lack of understanding by the Mint's marketing department. It's likely why they are hiring a new manager for the club and why we will likely see changes to the club again very soon. edited to correct spelling.

Talking about what top RCM executives can give away, I purchased one of 3 antique finish macintosh apple dollar coin I believe 1997 at auction, Story goes they struck 3 units for testing finish, the VP gave one to a RCM subcontractor, and the pressman took home the example that I purchased, by the way the VP example is now owned by a Canadian famous dealer with an RCM genuine letter. As an errors collector all kinds of things happen at the RCM

Will the coin become available to MC members who are at a lower level?
Unless there are 6000 platinum plus members there should be some left over.

Quote:This is the only free box I would want, if I was spending more than $5K at the RCM on an annual basis (and only on this product)... Right on! I want to stack monster boxes! Full of coins of course...

There is no need to worry, it was listed last week at a few smaller dealers and taken down.

I get 1 free and am not buying anymore. It should be every PP member gets one free and that's it. That should be the mintage. There is no incentive to continue to be a PP member.I was looking forward to getting something special.....i'll keep looking cause this isn't it.

Some in-hand photos. It is easily the best packaged 1oz RCM coin in the last few years. The design of the coin is good too, although the engraving done to the head of the leading goose could be better. Right now it looks a little bit blurry, hope it looks sharper.

At 1 o'clock on the reverse, is that some rim finning happening, with extra metal squeezing up between hammer and collar dies?

Now you mentioned it, I took a closer look and yes, there is a very tiny raised edge between 1 and 2 o'clock. Not very noticeable. If you didn't bring it up I wouldn't have noticed it. It is so small, do you think people would consider it an error, or just defect?

Quote: It is so small, do you think people would consider it an error, or just defect? as part of the people that have no knowledge in subject - will consider it as a "defect". But this is so small, so I would say - it absolutely normal NCLT coin. Does it have any COA (standard or special certificate) Shopaholic? I noticed the external cardboard box has MC logo.
