What do you guys think is going on to the right of the cap and above the date on this CBQ? Is this some type of environmental damage or did this happen at the mint. Just curious.

B-2 rust pitting, happened at the mint.

Several images on CoinFacts show the same features as your coin. I agree with the die being pitted. Nice coin.

As stated above, the die rusted. Almost all 1833 quarters have this.
