I found this in a roll. Where there any 1946 cents gold plated or pure copper cents for this year. It makes a different sound when you drop it but it weighs 3.1 and compared to other pennies the color is totally different. Some info please and thank you
If this was gold or even gold plated it would be heavier than a standard coin. I would say that this is more likely caused by environmental issues. or perhaps it was once gold plated (in the 50's) and has circulated so much that much has worn off, so that the scale cannot see the difference.
