Hello,

As the title states, I am looking for opinions on a reasonable asking price for this 1789-97 Italian States Venice Gold Zecchino. The coin has been verified as genuine when I had it looked at, the weight is dead on as is the diameter, and was graded around VF.

NGC has the coin listed at a very high price in this condition ($500) and, since I am looking to sell it relatively quickly, I thought I should price it well under their prices.

So, what do you think would be a reasonable price for this coin?:

Looks cleaned to me. A lot of hairline scratches.

Pretty coin with nice eye appeal.

As far as an asking price goes, you should check Heritage Auctions (ha.com) and see what any others have sold for. Sell the coin for what is a comfortable number for you.

If slabbed, it would probably bring more money and slabbing eases buyer's concerns with authenticity.

Good luck.

Yes, it does have more than a few hairlines, but looks very similar, if not better than, some of the coins I've researched that were slabbed. And, westernsky, I have searched through heritage and stacks and numerous other auction houses/websites and have seen prices from $275-$500 in coins graded VF.

Honestly, I was thinking $350 or somewhere around there. Maybe that's still too much but I wouldn't know as I do not have a lot of experience selling gold coins that are this old. The only times I've ever sold some of my gold was bullion value so it was much simpler to figure price.

Never ended up getting the $350 I was hoping for, currently trying to sell it for $200 instead.
