I was called yesterday from one of my pick up banks that they had some silver dollars, and 50cent pieces. I was told right off the bat that they were all newer that 68, so there was no silver.

I said I was still interested in looking.

good choice on my part....

Looks to be a decent grade, MS-63... some of the patina has been worn off, an acetone bath should help the eye appeal (it is pure nickel, you are not going to hurt it with acetone and a gentle Q-tip).

how can you tell if this is type 2, or just a double yoke? there is a significant price difference between the 2 and on the coins and Canada website there is only the one reference shot, which looks identical to mine (just a regular double yoke, not type 2)

any help would be great.

Type two, business strike. The other valuable ones (Type 1 and Type 3) are only found on PL and specimen strikes.

PS - I fixed your thread title too... it is a Double Yoke, not Double Yolk. One is used by oxen, and other is painfully lain by a chicken.
