Backtracking just a bit, am I correct to assume that the $2 2003A L* notes were destroyed? If not, perhaps are they in storage somewhere, or possibly mixed in with bricks of non star notes yet to be discovered?

I'm guessing you'd be looking at $2K - $3K for a GEM example. Edited to add; Currently there are zero graded at PMG and the PCGS pop report is unavailable (at this time). Edited by SteveInTampa

Interesting info about that 1981 C-note star. Guess I'm better off not collecting notes after c. 1960 - otherwise I'd be stone broke.

Well now, maybe the $2 2003a L stars are being stored,, like the millions of president dollars that are waiting to be used? sorry, never mind :)

It also occurred for series 2009 $2 L*.
BEP monthly production reports from January 2012 and March 2012 shows $2 San Francisco star notes printed for both series 2003A and series 2009. None of ANY of these notes have been reported.

Well, as far as the $2 2003A L* are concerned, I submitted a FOIA request today to the BEP to find out what happened to them (issued, destroyed, storage, etc.). We'll see what I get back as a response  Edited by BadDog

Did you mention that if they plan to destroy them that you would take a few off their hands? |

I did the same, but I asked about the series 2009 $2 San Francisco stars (L*) instead of the 2003A. Who knows....the $2 Lucky Money sheets (series 2009) were all issued in 2018 and printing presumably ended for that series in August 2012. Edited by SteveInTampa

......since we're talking about 2003a star notes,thought I would try to post some pics'..I'm not good with computers! the 63 new of the consecutive three has a ink smudge on the back and PCGS noted it on the holder..thought they were a little hard on that one,the other two consecutive are straight graded...hope pics' are ok   |
