ok thank you for clearing that up for me. yes they do have some slightly confusing explanations to things on there, honestly the main area I understood the most was security features and authentication of denominations as far as counterfeits and authentic bank notes.

Obvious question: Do the two printings command different prices?

Probably. Just thought Steve might be making more than a technical distinction.

Mostly yes, sometimes no. It depends on who has the note.

When reading the chart, between Type and Length is a lower case "n" or "s". The letter "n" is for notes and the letter "s" is for sheets. Star notes are replacements and sometimes used as replacement notes, and sometimes used as replacement sheets. Replacement notes are the most common and distributed in packs of 100. Replacement sheets are used less often and usually show up in pairs at the end of a pack of non-star notes.

In the SGSS the 1995 $10 L* is listed as one run. In Robert Azpiazu's guide it's shown as run #1 & run #2 with run #2 valued higher.

Wow, I don't know what the odds of this happening are, but I figured it was worth mentioning here!

Most of the 20s I get don't come straight from the ATM- they come from various other places who trade me a 20 for 20 one dollar bills that I put the currency tracking stamp on, as these places know me well and are happy to circulate my bills for me.

The first star note was a 2009 JF-* $20 from a convenience store right by my house- I saw it was a star note and made a mental note to look up the print run later.

Next I stopped at a coffee shop and after paying for my coffee, traded out another 20 with them. I didn't look at the SN until I found a place to sit, and wouldn't you know it, THAT bill was also a star note, a 2009 JL-*.

Both of the bills are spenders since they're from a full print run, but I figured it was worth mentioning since the odds of receiving two star notes as change consecutively from different places are probably not very high!
