Which is the best buy a silver eagle or a silver eagle that has been painted? Could one buy a painted silver eagle remove the paint with paint remover and would it be a regular silver eagle?

It would be a normal ASE if you removed the paint, but it would be cheaper just to buy a non-painted one rather than remove paint from a painted one.
Rest in Peace

John, I read somewhere that you can chisel off the paint with an air chisel. then just smooth out the gouges with #3 sandpaper. LOL

That sounds like a just carl ism if I've ever read one

John, just get a regular one. If you like a colorized go for it. Coins collecting, at its root, is one of personal preferance. But colorized eagles are technically considered PMD coins in the hobby. They are mainly marketed to the casual hobbyist. But that said, I think I have 1 floating around somewhere from my early days
