Found this half today and was wondering if it's an error coin. The indentations around the coin caught my attention. The reverse is normal.

Here is a zoomed in picture.

Have not seen this before, the round dotes are put between the letters and the date #'s making them not evenly spaced so I would have to say it's PMD, lets see what the Pro's say.

Can't really see the indentations too well (maybe if you cropped before uploading), but it would be PMD. Someone created their own design.

I'm suspecting that it might have been removed from a bezel or product in which it was once displayed.

are there any markings on the reverse. I'm fairly certain it mis some sort of post mint damage - but what caoused it is compltetly unclear.

Yeah, I don't think that's an error- more likely it was in a bezel or it was used as jewelry or a belt buckle and the obverse marks are what held it in place.

I agree with the PMD and it looks like it was some sort of holder because the indents fit right along the rim as if to hold it in place. I like how chequer says they dont see the indents to well that if it was cropped it would be better. Which makes no sense . Just say hey please crop the picture beacause it saves the forum on server space which in turn saves the forum money. And Hello There please pm me when you see this I saw what happened with the Merc Dime and I didn't like it I will send you one.

No, it isn't. Look at the west side of the tail.

I can't tell if that's damage or a die chip. I would guess that it's damage because of the damage on the obverse. But ... it is odd.

Kinda looks like a counterstamped S or dollar sign on the reverse. Save it as a curiosity, if you like, but there's really not much of a premium.

buddy, on the reverse it looks like its a dollar sign counterstamp. I'm guessing thats what the obverse is also, just someone having fun with a punch set and a hammer
Rest in Peace

Yeah, I see some fine lines that look like PMD. But those lines are on top of a glob shaped like a kidney bean.

If no one else is seeing that --- then I need to adjust my screen's resolution because lately I feel like I see things quite differently than everybody else.....

or maybe my eyes are shot. (sigh)
