In addition to the silver coins I also look for errors in the half rolls. I found an 83P with die clash; the reverse shows on the obverse with the olive branch prominent in front of Kennedy's eyes/nose. The rays of the reverse are also distinct below the image of Kennedy.
Lately I have come across more 83P coins with varying degrees of the error. Specifically, there are scratch marks in place of the olive branch and rays. Kennedy's nose is affected no matter what. They are not completely gone but it looks as though the die was repaired.
Anyone else have these or knowledge of them?

The scratch marks are the mint employees attempt to remove the clash marks by polishing the die. I have seen many of each kind- clashed and polished off clash - in most every year they were minted.

I had someone bring some of these in to the shop today. I had no idea what they were so I just skipped on them. Now I may have to find him and get a few for myself. I have to learn this stuff
