Can any one please tell me what the current bid and ask price for the 1909 vdb cent is on greysheet in every condition. Thnaks. Also, I am wondering why they are selling for so much. From my local dealer I bought some good-XF for a maximum price of $7.00 each.

They are selling for so much because of the speculation for 2009 and the revamp of the cent. I'm putting off selling until then.

Me thinks that many companies, dealers, etc. will be producing a small plastic holder with a 1909 and 2009 Lincoln Cent in them. I've seen many such things poping up lately for the 1943 Steel Cents, one each War Time Nickels, etc. Someone just puts one of each mint, or date, etc in a plastic container and sells them as a specialty item. They do sell. Now with the coming of the 2009 Lincoln Cent this surely will be one of those type of displays. A 1909, 09 VDB, 2009, 2009 VDB, etc. Some may come up with a complete set including one each of all varieties such as the 09S VSB, 2009S VDB, etc. and sell for thousands. In order to do this these people will need a lot of 09's so the price is climbing now and many sellers know this.

I think the dealers are hoarding anything 1909 now. I recently sold 89 1909 pennies (no V.D.B.) in AG to VG condition (a few might have been fine but I really don't know for sure), with the average coin being G4 or maybe a little better. I got $192 shipped. That's $2.16 each in a bulk purchase, and bulk purchases will always sell for less per coin than if they are sold individually. Book value is only a little over $1 per coin for G4, so I was pretty happy.
Rest in Peace

I've picked up several recently in anticipation of 2009.

I hope to give a 1909 and a 2009 to each of the grandkids.

I'm just glad I got my BU 09 and 09VDB's a few months ago. The prices on ebay are now officially insane for those.

I have been putting away 1909s for sometime now. I have 107 in the same general condition mahgobi describe. Only wish I had started sooner.
