how can u tell if this is just wear or something wrong with the strike. the other side is so much better it seem to me the same amount of wear would be on both sides. is it worth hanging on to.

I think it's a Greaser. Weak strike would affect the rim, and wear would affect the whole coin.

A weak strike won't have full rims, wear will usually affect the whole coin. I agree with CoinMasters that this is a Struck Through Grease filled die error. A nice one too!

Grease Filled Die Errors have a small collector base, so don't command the premiums of many other varieties and errors. Yours is very unique because the effect is so extensive. I would keep it.

On grease strike coins the rim are usually full.
